DENVER, Colo. — Belron S.A., international glass-replacement company, has announced its purchase of Safelite Glass Corporation. The $334 million deal will include all of Safelite's operations, including its manufacturing plants, glass repair network and claims administration operations. The deal, still subject to regulatory approval and closing conditions, is expected to close in March. Upon closing, the organization will be called Belron US. Safelite's network includes 212 locations and 2,200 mobile service and repair vehicles. Belron operates 90 branches and 500 mobile service units in 11 states under the names Auto Glass Specialists, GlasPro, Elite Auto Glass, Windshield Pros and Maverick Glass. Safelite's subsidiary operation, Safelite Solutions, provides property and casualty claims management services to insurance and fleet clients across the United States, with two national contact centers in Columbus, Ohio. Belron S.A. is the world's largest vehicle glass repair and replacement company, operating in 29 countries. They entered the U.S. market in 2005 with the acquisitions of Elite Auto Glass Inc. in Colorado and Auto Glass Specialists Inc. in Wisconsin. The senior leadership of Belron US will include Dan Wilson, president and CEO; Thomas Feeney, executive vice president and CCO; Douglas Herron, executive vice president and CFO; and Mark Smolik, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, associate services, ethics officer — all from Safelite. Rich Harrison, current CEO of Belron will lead the integration of the two companies and be responsible for business development as senior vice president, strategy and business development. Wes Topping, current non-executive chairman of Belron will join the Belron US board in a non-executive capacity and will continue to search for additional strategic acquisitions. Belron is a subsidiary of D'Ieteren, a Belgium-based international group involved in automobile distribution, short-term car rental and vehicle glass repair and replacement.
