Robotic combat is a growing sport that is attracting viewers of all ages. BattleBots, which appears on cable TV’s Comedy Central, is seeing its numbers rise with each passing month. Having debuted in 2000, BattleBots is now the third highest rated sports program on basic cable, behind only the World Wrestling Federation and ESPN’s NFL Sunday Night Football.

© An average of 3.5 million viewers tune into the show every week.

© The BattleBots target audience is 72 percent male, 28 percent female.

© The median age group is 29.

© BattleBots currently airs internationally in the United Kingdom (BBC2), Canada (The Comedy Network), and New Zealand (Prime TV), among others.

© BattleBots has ongoing licensing projects involving toys, video games, books and apparel with companies such as Hasbro, Tiger Electronics, Milton Bradley, and McGraw-Hill. In 2003, look for BattleBots to be featured in blockbuster motion pictures like “Terminator 3” (Warner Bros.) and “X-Men 2” (20th Century Fox).
