Menke's Automotive rises to the top of the country's shops

When Vernie Menke used to wander out to his father's shop behind his childhood home, he knew he wanted to work in an automotive shop for the rest of his life. But when he walked into his first job at Paul Fischer Performance Shop in 1970, his views all changed. Yes, he still wanted to be in a shop, but this was different. The shop was pristine. It was spotless and organized ? just how Menke knew a good automotive repair shop should be run.

Shops from around the country fill out the top 10 of the fourth annual Motor Age Top Shops Contest. The top shop in 2009 is Menke Automotive Repair in Newburgh, Ind., and shops from Colorado, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, California, Michigan, Arizona and another Indiana shop round out the list.

Leather seats a top priority for some car owners

While your customers are concerned about brakes, engine performance and oil changes when they come to see you, that's not even close to the top of the list they're looking at otherwise. CarMax, Inc. recently came out with the top 10 vehicle features searched for on carmax.com in October. Leather seats top the list as the most desired feature among carmax.com consumers.

Hankook rolling ahead with several 2010 racing sponsorships
