Traffic fatalities for 2009 reach record low

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced that the number of overall traffic fatalities reported at the end of 2009 reached the lowest level since 1954, declining for the 15th consecutive quarter. According to early projections, the fatality rate, which takes into account the number of miles traveled, reached the lowest level ever recorded.

NCOIL tables aftermarket crash parts discussion

The National Conference of Insurance Legislators has once again postponed making a decision on its controversial proposed Aftermarket Crash Parts Model Act. The model act, which has been nearly a decade in the making, was the subject of two sessions at the recent meeting in South Carolina on March 5-7.

CAPA moves forward on bumper standards

Following up on its Feb. 1 announcement that the Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) is developing a new bumper certification standard, CAPA is in the dynamic testing phase of the new CAPA standard, according to Jack Gillis, CAPA executive director.
